Changelog

What's new

Everything that has changed in Simfolio, newest first. We version in small steps - v0.1, v0.2 - until the product earns a 1.0.

v1.0.0

Simfolio leaves beta. A Windows companion finds what's already on your PC and adds it to your collection.

New

  • Detect on PCA small companion app for Windows reads your Microsoft Flight Simulator Community folder, plus any folder you add, and recognises what you already own. You review the list and add it in one go. Nothing is added until you confirm, and a scan never removes anything from your collection.
  • Add what the catalogue doesn't know yetAdd-ons the scan finds that aren't in the catalogue can be added as your own products in one click. They are reviewed before they join the public catalogue.

New

  • Tabs on public profiles to filter by categoryYour public profile collection now displays with tabs for Aircraft, Airports, Software, Hardware, and Subscriptions - just like the main collection page. Browse and filter what you own by type.

v0.9.0

Your collection, as a card you can put in a story.

New

  • Share your Simfolio as a cardA new Share section on your dashboard turns your collection into a card: your aircraft, scenery, software and hardware counts, on a 1080 x 1920 image made for an Instagram or TikTok story. Tap Share and your phone's share menu opens with the image ready. Nothing is published anywhere until you pick where it goes.
  • The card is made on your phone, not on our serversYour numbers never leave the device to become an image. Nothing about the card is stored, and no link to it exists anywhere.

Changed

  • On a computer, the card downloads insteadPosting straight to a story is something only phones can do. Open Simfolio on your phone for that; on a computer you can still download the image and post it yourself.

v0.8.1

Sharing a link to Simfolio now shows something.

Fixed

  • A link to Simfolio was previewing as a grey rectanglePaste the address into Instagram, WhatsApp, Discord or Slack and you got an empty grey box: the site had no preview image at all. It now shows a proper card - the logo, what Simfolio is, and a glimpse of the app.
  • The page title was still in FrenchEvery page announced itself as “Votre collection de simulation aérienne” - in the browser tab, and in Google results - on a site written entirely in English. It now reads “Simfolio - Your flight sim library”.

v0.8.0

Simfolio now asks for an account.

Changed

  • You need an account to use SimfolioUntil now you could browse and tick products without signing up, and what you ticked stayed in your browser. That is over: the app asks for an account. It is one click and no password - we email you a link, or you sign in with Google or Discord. If you had already ticked things without an account, they are not lost: sign in and they move into your account the first time, exactly as before.
  • The currency picker moved into SettingsIt was a cramped dropdown wedged into the sidebar, between the site links and the sign-out button - the only setting in the whole app living in the navigation. It now sits in Settings, next to the simulator you fly, as proper options rather than a list you have to open. Settings itself is reachable from the sidebar now; until today the only way in was the gear icon, which only exists on a phone.

v0.7

The announcement has an address of its own.

New

  • The public beta announcement, in fullWhat we sent to the press, readable by anyone, at a permanent address rather than buried in an email.

v0.6

For anyone writing about Simfolio.

New

  • A press kitLogos, screenshots, the colours, and the facts about Voltech Simulations - all downloadable, all usable without asking us. If you are covering Simfolio on a channel, a forum or a blog, everything you need is there.

v0.5.2

A proper logo, and a sign-in screen that behaves.

Changed

  • Simfolio has its real logoThe wings and the wordmark, everywhere the old placeholder was - the site, the app, the sign-in screen, and the icon in your browser tab.
  • Google's logo is on the Google buttonDiscord had its logo, Google did not. It does now, which makes the two buttons readable at a glance.
  • The home page is cleaner on a phoneThe two small buttons in the header were crowding the logo and repeating, in miniature, the one just below. They are gone, and the main button is now full width and thumb-sized.

Fixed

  • The email field on the sign-in screen was half the height of the buttonsA thin slot squeezed under two full-size buttons. It now matches them exactly.

v0.5

Nothing changes on your side. Everything changes on ours.

New

  • We can finally see whether Simfolio is usefulA screen for us, not for you: how many simmers have joined, how many actually built a collection, and how many came back. Until now we were guessing. It also shows which add-ons are owned the most, which are wished for the most, and which ones nobody has ever picked - that last list is what tells us where the catalogue is wrong. No new data is collected for any of it: every number on that screen was already in your collection, we had simply never looked at it together.

v0.4.1

We now count page views, without cookies.

Changed

  • Simfolio measures how many people visit each pageKnowing which pages get read is how we decide what to work on. The tool we use sets no cookies, keeps no IP address, and cannot follow you from one site to another - it counts page views, the country, and the page you arrived from. There is still no consent banner, because there is still nothing to consent to. The privacy policy says exactly what is measured.

v0.4

You decide what we build next.

New

  • A public roadmapWhat is being built, what is planned, and what has already shipped - all on one page, open to everyone. Anything marked as shipped links straight to the release that brought it.
  • Vote for what you want nextOne vote per person on each entry, and you can take it back. We build what simmers ask for most, so the order of that list is the order of the work.
  • Send us an ideaMissing something? Tell us from the roadmap page, in a sentence or two. Every idea is read, and the ones that earn a place appear on the roadmap for everyone to vote on.

v0.3

The catalogue is now updated from a spreadsheet, in the browser.

New

  • Import a catalogue from a spreadsheetDownload the whole catalogue as an Excel file, edit prices and add products in the rows, drop it back. New publishers are created as they appear, and a row left without an identifier becomes a new product.
  • See what an import will change before it happensThe file is read and counted first: what would be created, what would be updated and which fields, what is left alone. Nothing is written until you say so, and then it all goes through or none of it does.
  • A spreadsheet can no longer undo work done hereEvery download is stamped with the moment it was taken. Anything corrected in the catalogue afterwards is set aside rather than overwritten, and the products it protected are named on screen so you know what to look at.
  • Airports have a Caribbean region of their ownSaint Martin, Punta Cana and Montego Bay used to be filed under North or South America, where they vanished between Chicago and Bogota. The Caribbean is a place you fly to, not a corner of somewhere else, and it now groups and filters like any other region.

Changed

  • Removing a product from the file no longer removes it from the catalogueProducts missing from a file used to be withdrawn without asking. They are now listed, with a box to tick if that is really what you meant. Deleting a row by accident should not empty a shelf.
  • Pictures are left out of the file entirelyArtwork is managed on the product page and nowhere else, so an older spreadsheet can no longer replace a picture with an empty frame.

Fixed

  • Airports added since v0.2 now show on the mapAn airport only draws a pin if Simfolio knows where it is, and airports added from the catalogue admin were saved without a position - so they were counted, listed, and invisible on the map. Simfolio now works the position out from the ICAO code by itself, for new airports and for the ones already recorded.
  • The deck moves on to the next category, not back to the firstFinish the airports and the button offered to continue with aircraft, then aircraft again after software. It now follows the tabs in order and comes back round to the start only once.
  • The catalogue screens are readable on a phone againBelow a certain width, the panels of the catalogue admin took the colours of the dark app while sitting on a light page - cream text on cream. They now keep one set of colours at every size.

v0.2.1

The deck opens on what you do not have.

Changed

  • “Not mine” means not now, not neverA card you wave away leaves for the session and comes back next time you open the deck. Opening it should always show what you are missing, not a screen telling you there is nothing left to see. The ones you have never answered come first.
  • The category counters count what you have“Aircraft 7/13” now reads: seven of the thirteen aircraft we track are in your collection. It used to count how far you had scrolled.

Fixed

  • Products you already own are no longer proposedAdd something from the list, or sign in on another device, and the swipe deck kept offering it as if you had never answered. What you own - or put on your wishlist - now leaves the pile for good, wherever you recorded it.

v0.2

The catalogue is now tended from inside Simfolio.

New

  • The products you ask for actually get readWhen you add something the catalogue does not have, it no longer sits in a corner. Requests are gathered, counted - the same product asked for by several simmers rises to the top - and published for everyone. What you could not find is what the catalogue is missing.
  • Pictures arrive without waiting for a releaseProduct pictures used to travel with the code, so a missing one waited for the next deployment. They now live on their own. Expect the catalogue to fill in steadily rather than in jumps.

Changed

  • Withdrawing a product never touches your collectionIf a product leaves the catalogue, it stays in the collection of everyone who owns it. Nothing you have recorded is ever removed by a change on our side.

v0.1.4

Your collection, as a card you can post.

New

  • Share your SimfolioA boarding-pass card with what you own, sized for Instagram Stories, TikTok and Discord. One tap from your dashboard or your collection. On a phone it goes straight into the app you are sharing to, without a trip through your gallery.

Changed

  • What your collection is worth is hidden until you askIt is the strongest number in Simfolio and the one that can tighten your stomach - especially with someone reading over your shoulder. Tap Reveal when you want it. We remember your choice on this device.
  • The menu is on every page nowVision and What's new carry the same header as the home page, so a shared link is a way into the site rather than a dead end.

v0.1.3

A vision page, a proper footer, and airports that group themselves.

New

  • A Vision pageWhere Simfolio is going, and why now - the problem, the four phases, and the flywheel that makes the product better for everyone as more simmers join.
  • Airports group by regionOn “All”, your airports now sit under their continent, largest group first. Twenty airports in a flat list say nothing; grouped, they show at a glance where you fly - and where you do not fly yet.
  • A footer on every public pageEvery page of the site, in one place.

Changed

  • Simfolio says BETAThe version badge reads “BETA v0.1.3” and will keep saying beta until Simfolio earns a 1.0. You should know what you are using.

Fixed

  • “Try it without an account” no longer shows to people who have oneIt was offering a demo to simmers already signed in.

v0.1.2

A pass over the words, the navigation and the home page.

New

  • An About section on the home pageWho Voltech Simulations is, and where the name comes from - Vol, tech, Simulations.
  • This pageEvery release, in plain language.
  • The home page button knows youAlready signed in, you get “View my Simfolio” instead of an invitation to start over.
  • Adding a product we don't have: your callThe category is no longer guessed from the tab you happened to be on, and you decide whether it goes into your collection or onto your wishlist.

Changed

  • “Can't find it?” moved above the listIt sat at the bottom of the page - where nobody scrolls after a search that found nothing.
  • “Build” is now “Swipe to add”On the sidebar and on the dashboard. “Build” did not say what was about to happen.
  • On the Collection page, “Add manually” is now just “Add”
  • Currency and sign-out moved to the very bottom of the sidebarWith the rest of the settings, where you would look for them.
  • The “Feedback” link, which went nowhere, is gone

v0.1.1

Adding by hand, for people who already know what they own.

New

  • Add from a listThe swipe deck is built for discovering. It is poor when you already know your collection by heart. Pick a category, search, tick - without ever leaving the screen.
  • Add a product we don't haveName, brand, type, price. It goes into your collection right away, and only you can see it.
  • A “Hide N added” filter, to keep only what is left to enter

Changed

  • The Add button on Airports and Subscriptions now opens the listSending you to the swipe deck from those screens made no sense.

Fixed

  • Buttons that were nearly invisible on light backgroundsSign out, and removing a subscription.

v0.1

The first real batch after launch.

New

  • Sign in with GoogleAlongside Discord and the email link. Same email, same collection - whichever door you come through.
  • Software and hardware join the catalogueA simmer spends as much on a yoke and on GSX as on aircraft. Counting only aircraft gave a false picture.
  • A value per product, in your currencyEuro, pound or dollar. Amounts are converted at the day's rate and marked with a “≈”. You can replace the catalogue estimate with what you actually paid.
  • The dashboard shows what your collection is worth, and your wishlist
  • A welcome screen for your simulator and your currency
  • A log-in button on the home page, for people who already have a collection
  • A sign-out button, which existed nowhere
  • Subscriptions became usefulPlan, price, renewal date and active/paused are all editable, with a warning when a renewal is close and the yearly total of what you pay.
  • Airport filters that work - by continent, and search by ICAO, city or country

Fixed

  • Signing in did not bring back your collectionIt was not a session problem. What you ticked without an account stayed in your browser, and the app stopped looking for it there. It is now moved into your account on first sign-in, and a message confirms it.
  • A sign-in link opened on another device did not workThe most common case of all: asked for on the computer, opened on the phone.
  • Sign-in errors were silent. They are shown.

v0

First release.

New

  • Simfolio goes liveA catalogue of aircraft, airports and subscriptions, the “Do you own this?” deck, the world map, and accounts through Discord or an email link.
